Flowering May - September. Annual. Native.

One of two subspecies of Viola tricolor.
Flower colour can be variable; purplish or purplish-yellow. Petals longer than sepals. Branched, +/- erect stems. Hybridies with Field Pansy, Viola arvensis.

Occurs on arable and waste ground, most frequent N, E, SE Ireland.
