Flowering time: April-June. Perennial. Native.

White flowers with divided petals and bracts like smaller leaves. Pairs of narrow, rough-edged linear-lanceolate leaves on weak, more/less upright stems. Height: 15-60 cm.

Can be common (except on very acid soils) in hedgebanks, woodland and on roadsides but less frequent in the west of Ireland.

Similar: Lesser Stitchwort, S. graminea is smaller with deeper-split petals and Field Mouse-ear, Cerastium arvense
