Pale pink to whitish flowers with deeply notched petals and a 4-lobed stigma. The lanceolate-oval leaves are toothed with rounded bases and short stems. Lower leaves are opposite, upper leaves in whorls of 3 on erect round stems, often red-tinged. Height 20-60cm

Abundant in woodland, gardens and on roadsides and wasteground.
