Flowering time: June-August. Perennial. Introduced.

The purplish-pink flowers have a club-shaped stigma and are often darker at the outer edges. Leaves are oval-lanceolate with short stalks. Stems often reddish with raised stem ridges. Leaf rosettes are produced in autumn and over-winter. Glandular hairs present. Height: 30-90cm.
A white-flowered form occurs: Epilobium ciliatum f. albiflorum

Common on disturbed ground and is increasing in most of Ireland.

Similar: Broad-leaved Willowherb, E. montanum has a 4-lobed stigma
