Flowering time: April-May. Perennial bulb. Native.

Blue flowers, occasionally white or mauve, one-sided on drooping stalks above green linear leaves. Spreads both vegetatively and by seed. Height: 20-50cm

Can be locally common in deciduous woodland and on hedge banks, grassland and bracken covered slopes.

Similar: Hybrid Bluebell, H. x massartiana. Flowers April-June with larger, lighter-blue flowers. Introduced.
