Flowering: July-September. Semi-parasitic annual. Native.

The small 2-lipped white flowers with a small lower lip are followed by oblong, hairless seed capsules. Bracts have a few long teeth in the upper half. The narrow leaves and stems are bronze/purple coloured. Pairs of slender erect or spreading branches usually present. Semi-parasitic on Wild Thyme. Part of the Lusitanian Flora. Grows on infertile calcareous ground in grassland, dunes and among scrub. Only found in western Ireland and absent from Britain.
