Flowering July-September. Perennial. Native.

Tall, erect rush with long creeping rhizomes. To 90cm.
Leaves round or elliptic in cross-section, jointed upright stems.
Loose brownish flowerheads on repeatedly branched stems. More horizontally-branched than Jointed Rush.
Hybrids occur, strong vegetative growth but usually sterile.

Very frequent, acidic marshes, wet woods and fields, bog edges.
