Similar to Soft Brome, B. hordeaceus but the flowerheads are looser and more spreading with long, +/- drooping branches. Pale green, oblong spikelets, 5-8 flowered with slightly veined lemmas and longer anthers, 1.5-2mm. Height 30-90cm.

Rare in Ireland, in damp, unimproved meadows and on roadsides.
