Spores ripen June - August. Evergreen perennial. Native.

Shoots more/less erect, usually 1-2 times forked, 5-12cm tall.
Dark-green narrow leaves, sharp-pointed, untoothed. Young leaves are brighter, lighter green. Yellow sporangia or bud-like plantlets in leaf axils, can reproduce vegetatively.

Usually found on acidic, nutrient-poor upland heaths, moorlands, bogs, rocks. Widespread in Sw, W, NW Ireland.
