Flowering July - August. Annual. Native.

Dense clusters of flowerheads with linear, five-rowed, keeled bracts. The leaves are wavy-edged, white-woolly and linear but without a mucronate point at the tips. Stems are +/- branched at the base. Height 15-30cm.

Scattered distribution in Ireland, most frequent in the south-east on dry, sandy, +/- acidic grasslands, roadsides, arable and waste ground.
