Flowering July-September. Perennial. Native.

Solitary white flowers with transluscent veins, the five stamens alternating with branched, broad-based staminoides. The long-stalked basal leaves are heart-shaped and there is a single, clasping, leaf on the stem. Short rhizome. Height 15-40cm.

Mainly found in western and central Ireland in base-rich flushes, damp grassland, fens and marshes.
