Flowering July-September. Biennial. Native.

Similar to Lesser Burdock, A. minus but very variable. Looser spikes of short-stalked woolly flower-heads. Florets more/less equal sepal-like bracts, more open in fruit. Lower leaf stalks hollow, furrowed above. Stems sometimes reddish.

The commonest Burdock in some parts of Ireland.
