Common Figwort
Scrophularia nodosa
Family: Scrophulariaceae

Flowering: June-September. Perennial. Native.

Flowers small, reddish-brown, with green lower lobes. Leaves oval, pointed, sharp-toothed. Square stems, not or slightly winged. Rhizome with many tuber-like swellings. Height to 100cm. S. nodosa var. bobartii is a green-flowered form.

Woods, hedgebanks, waste ground.

Similar: Water Figwort, S. auriculata.
Blunt-tipped leaves, wide-winged stems.
