Evergreen shrub or small tree. Garden escape.

Small yellow flowers in spring are followed by small black berries on female plants in autumn and un-pruned plants produce seed freely. The aromatic evergreen leaves are wavy-edged but can be susceptible to frost damage. Height to over 6m

Most frequently recorded as a bird-sown garden escape or throw-out from cultivation in coastal areas of the south and south-east of Ireland
