Evergreen shrub. Garden escape or relic of cultivation.

Tiny flowers are produced in the spring and autumn berries are usually only produced if both male and female plants are present though bisexual varieties are available. The large glossy leaves frequently have yellow markings. Height to 2m+. Tolerates poor growing conditions and pollution

Most frequently recorded as a garden escape from south, south-east and north-east Ireland
