Flowering: Summer to early autumn. Sub-shrub. Garden escape.

Orange-red tubular flowers. The leaves are evergreen or semi-evergreen. Frost hardy but grows best in sheltered positions as new growth can be cut back by frost. Spreads both by seed and vegetatively by means of suckers. Height to 1.5m.

Only very occasionally recorded in Ireland as a garden escape or as a relic of cultivation. Identification confirmed by Paul Green.
