Flowering: May-July. Deciduous or semi-evergreen shrub.

The small white flowers, 1-4 together, are followed by orange-red berries in the autumn. Shiny green leaves are slightly downy underneath, less than 3cm long and turn yellow to orange/red in autumn. Height to 4m.

A frequent bird-sown garden escape on roadsides, wasteground and in woods, hedges and scrub. Identification confirmed by Paul Green
