Flowering: July-September. Perennial. Introduced.

Solitary many-rayed mauve flowers with yellow centres on short, thick stems. The stalked grey-green leaves are un-toothed and broadest above the middle. An erect, hairy, tufted plant that can form large patches by means of the spreading rhizomes. Height 10-25cm.

An occasional garden escape on dry ground and walls near the coast.
