Flowering time: February-June. Annual. Native.

Leafless flowerstems with short racemes of small white flowers, their 4 petals deeply divided. The hairless, long-stalked fruits are flat and oval-elliptical. Basal rosettes of broadly lanceolate leaves that narrow into wide stalks and the stalks and leaves can be more or less hairy. Very variable with many very similar subspecies. Height 2-10cm.

Frequent throughout most of Ireland on dry, sandy grassland, heaths and dunes and among rocks
