Flowering time: June-September. Rhizomatous perennial. Native.

Narrow racemes of small, greenish-pink flowers are followed by fruit with 6 carpels. The hairless fleshy basal leaves are linear, the upperside flat near the base but the underside rounded. Height to 60 cm.

Frequent on coastal and estuarine salt-marshes

Similar: Marsh Arrowgrass, T. palustre. Leaves usually deeply furrowed on the upperside at the base. Laxer flower spike, the fruit with 3 carpels. Grows in calcareous marshes and wet pastures.
