Glassworts

Flowering: August-September. Succulent annuals. Native.
Minute green flowers in groups of 1-3 at nodes. Succulent branched stems with jointed segments. Edible but very variable. Restricted to coasts on muddy or sandy salt-marshes.
Six species are recorded in Ireland:
  Long-spiked Glasswort, S. dolichostachya
  Common Glasswort, S. europaea.
  Yellow Glasswort, S. fragilis
  Shiny Glasswort, S. nitens
  One-flowered Glasswort, S. pusilla.
  Purple Glasswort, S. ramosissima.
