Flowering: April-June. Biennial. Introduced.

Unscented purple flowers with 4-petals are followed by distinctive round, flat, silvery fruit. The heart-shaped basal leaves are long-stalked, toothed and hairy, the stem leaves stalkless and opposite. Erect growth, height to 1.5m. Flowers are occasionally white (Lunaria annua var. albiflora).

Occasional garden escape on waste ground, roadsides and in woods
