Flowering time: July-September. Annual. Native.

Stalked yellow flowerheads with the outer florets short and rolled back. The bracts are brownish-purple or green but outer bracts are either absent or very small. Short-stalked basal and lower leaves have deeply pinnate lobes, upper leaves stem-clasping. Leaves are initially 'cottony' then hairless on slender, erect, grooved stems. Height 30-70cm

Found on sandy waste ground, heaths and in open woodland.
