Flowering time: June-August. Aquatic perennial. Native.

Flowerheads are green and spherical, in branched racemes with male flower-heads are above and female flower-heads below. The erect stem leaves are hairless and keeled at the base. In deep, fast-flowing water narrow submerged or floating leaves may develop. Height: 50-150 cm

Found in still and moving freshwater with a mud substrate.
