Young stalks are covered with golden-brown hairs which soon fall off. The deciduous pale green leaves are erect and 2-pinnate, 60-100cm long. Rich-brown spore cases on central leaves. Short, stout erect stems. Height to 2m

Boggy, marshy woods and fens. Most frequent in western half of Ireland
