Flowers are pinkish white and fringed with white hairs. The long-stalked trifoliate leaves are raised above the water with creeping submerged stems and rootstock below. Height: 12-30 cm
An important food plant for Elephant Hawkmoth caterpillars

Ponds, fens and bogs in shallow muddy water. Frequent in most parts of Ireland.
