Flowering time: June-September. Perennial. Native.

The yellow flowers (less than 20mm wide) are either solitary or in few-flowered heads. Narrow, stalked stem leaves above oblong basal leaves. A more/less hairless plant with hollow stems and erect or creeping growth habit, sometimes rooting at nodes. To 50 cm.

Frequent on wet or muddy ground in marshes, ditches and damp woods.

Similar: Greater Spearwort, R. lingua. Stouter, taller plant to 120cm. Scattered distribution, mainly central Ireland.
