Flowering June-September. Annual. Native.

Narrow, unbranched flower spikes with stalkless, single-flowered spikelets. Short, narrow, hairless leaves, flat or inrolled with short, blunt ligules. Stems prostrate at base, erect above. Height 10-30cm.

Coastal on salt-marshes, muddy sea-shores, sea walls and shingle ridges. Very inconspicuous and possibly under-recorded.
