The most common cultivated barley, many different varieties are grown. Spikelets in two rows with sterile lateral spikelets, more/less awnless, usually with stalks. Unknown as a wild plant.

Casual, found on roadsides, field edges, waste ground, ports.
Relic of cultivation, also from spilt grain and bird seed.
