Crested Male Fern

Evergreen or semi-evergreen. Introduced, garden escape.

Tough mid-green fronds with crests on the ends and on the pinnae. Arching fronds 90-120cm, dying back in cold winters. Grows true from spores. Frost hardy.

Garden cultivar of Scaly Male Fern.
Grown in gardens on neutral to acidic soils in full or part shade.
